Our Story and Approach
Northvale emerged from conversations with nonprofit leaders who expressed a consistent challenge: finding consultants who understood the unique constraints and opportunities of mission-driven work. Many described experiences with advisors whose recommendations, while well-intentioned, failed to account for the realities of nonprofit governance, stakeholder dynamics, or resource limitations.
We saw an opportunity to provide something different. Rather than importing corporate frameworks wholesale, we would develop consulting approaches grounded in the actual operating environment of Canadian nonprofits. Rather than offering prescriptive solutions, we would work collaboratively with organizations to develop recommendations that reflected their specific circumstances.
Since beginning this work in 2019, we've had the privilege of supporting organizations across multiple sectors, from community services to environmental conservation, from arts and culture to international development. Each engagement has deepened our understanding of the sector while reinforcing our commitment to practical, implementable guidance.
